NBR Bonded Sealing Ring
Tenchy provides custom NBR bonded sealing rings manufactured from extruded nitrile rubber tubing or
cord and joined into continuous circular gaskets. These sealing rings are designed for plastic pail lids,
industrial buckets, drums, containers and other closure systems requiring reliable sealing against liquids,
oils and industrial media.
NBR, also known as nitrile rubber or nitrile butadiene rubber, offers excellent resistance to mineral oils,
lubricants, grease and many petroleum-based fluids. This makes NBR sealing rings particularly suitablez
for packaging used for lubricants, paints, coatings, chemicals and other industrial products.
The sealing ring is produced by extruding NBR rubber to the required profile, cutting it to a controlled
length and joining both ends to form a continuous ring. Solid cord, hollow tubing and customized
extrusion profiles can be produced depending on the sealing groove and compression requirements.
Standard industrial-grade NBR and food-contact grade NBR compounds are available for different
applications. For food and beverage packaging, suitable food-contact materials can be selected
according to the required regulatory standard.

Bonding and Splicing
The NBR extrusion is cut to the required length and both ends are joined to form a continuous sealing
ring.
Depending on the application, different joining methods can be evaluated:
Adhesive bonding
Cold splicing
Hot splicing
Vulcanized joint
For standard static sealing applications, adhesive-bonded joints can provide a practical and economical
solution.
For applications requiring higher joint strength, higher reliability or special regulatory requirements, hot
spliced or vulcanized joints can also be evaluated.
The joint area can be inspected for:
• Alignment
• Joint strength
• Surface condition
• Diameter consistency
• Flash or excessive adhesive
• Ring circumference
